World Oceans Day

June 8, 2022 - Join us as we honor the importance of healthy oceans and their connections to all life on Earth, particularly here on our beautiful island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Whether you live close to the water or within another environment, all of us have the ability to help make our oceans safer for the wildlife and humans that depend upon it.

Here are a couple of easy ways to help:

  1. say "no" to plastic straws and utensils when eating out

  2. clean up your local beach or community and remove plastic that can wash into waterways

  3. identify one more product that you can switch to that is in compostable packaging

  4. reduce your consumption of fossil fuels

  5. visit us at Kīlauea Point NWR - where the ocean meets the sky!

  6. share your passion and help build a community of like-minded friends who are committed to improving the health and vitality of our oceans.
